Marc Suchard Recognized as World's Most Influential Researcher, Drives Innovations in Viral Disease Modeling
Marc Suchard, a distinguished physician and professor in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health's Department of Biostatistics and the Department of Computational Medicine at UCLA, has been named one of the world's most influential researchers in the highly selective Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) list for 2025. This prestigious recognition, which also included nine professors from the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, highlights scholars whose work has had a genuine, global influence on their fields.
Beyond the recognition of his foundational work, Professor Suchard is actively driving new research critical to public health security. His Lab is currently focused on improving computational methods for researching the spread of infectious viral diseases. This innovative research aims to develop and refine advanced statistical tools that can better model, track, and forecast how viral infections disseminate through populations. By enhancing the methodology used in this area, Professor Suchard's work will provide public health officials and epidemiologists with more accurate and timely insights, ultimately improving preparedness and response strategies to future outbreaks and pandemics.
