SwabSeq testing UCLA Health

Massively scaled-up testing for SARS-CoV-2 RNA via next-generation sequencing of pooled and barcoded nasal and saliva samples | Nature Biomedical Engineering

Swab-Seq is a high-throughput COVID-19 testing platform for SARS-CoV-2 that uses sequencing to detect COVID-19. Swab-Seq uses sample-specific molecular barcodes to simultaneously analyze thousands of samples for the presence or absence of SARS-CoV-2. Swab-Seq obtained FDA Emergency Use Authorization in October and is currently deployed at UCLA in a high-complexity CLIA laboratory, and performed over 150,000 tests since December 2021. Swab-Seq is a flexible protocol and can rapidly scale up testing for novel pathogens, including COVID-19 and future pathogens.
